A car accident while I sketched.

A5 Hand.Book, pen, ink, watercolor and water brush.
My husband and I were eating some ice cream this evening. Although we are coming out of a bad cold and still coughing, we craved for some ice cream. I was in the corner of the store and sketched the building across the street, also in a corner. Unfortunately, we heard a crash and a dog crying. I lifted my head and saw a teenager and a mature woman rolling on the floor. The scooter they were driving crashed with a SUV. The scooter was on top of the little dog. I saw the two persons trying to sit down on the floor totally disoriented until they realized they were involved in an accident. They tried to get up but neither of them could, so they remained laying on the floor.  I don't know who took the little dog but it couldn't move its rear legs. Soon people gathered around the scene, many call for help. The police arrived, so the ambulance. I didn't dare to sketch the crime scene, in fact it didn't occurred to me to sketch it, I was in shock, just later I added some of the curious people watching the scene. After all the commotion and the crash scene was cleared I asked the police about the woman, he told me she had a broken hip. Then I asked him who hit who. The police looked at me amazed. -It's irrelevant who hit who. What we want to know is who had the red light, because that person in the liable for the accident. He was right. -Both parts declared they had the green light. Did you happen to see who had the green light? He asked me. -No, I didn't I replied. He said -That's what happens. Witnesses look at the victims but not the traffic lights. Later my husband asked me if there were any traffic cameras. Unfortunately there wasn't any. Who will be liable for this? How the authorities will resolve the case? That's a tough one. I just hope the victims recover from this one.

The morning taco stand.

A5 Hand.Book, pen, ink, water brush and watercolor.

Across the street from where I was having a cup of coffee by myself at noon today, I saw a taco stand in Tequisquiapan square. Taco is the king of Mexican street food, it is king at night. Taco stands multiply like rabbits from sunset to past midnight. They are everywhere, on each street corner. They have proliferated so much that now one can find street food stands from practically anything: tacos, hamburger, burritos, tamales, you name it. After a hard work day or simply when you are hungry in the middle of the night, taco stands are a cheap and a popular choice. What it seemed odd to me was to see this  taco vendor at noon, I thought they were setting but in fact they were picking up their stuff, they were leaving. The man on the left was cleaning a tray, he was always smiling, perhaps it was because he loves his job, or he had good sales or simply because his shift was over and he was happy to leave.  The man in the middle was putting food in a bag, he seemed to be the second in command and was putting things inside the trunk of the car on the left. And the one on the right was just there, sitting, looking at the screen of his phone all the time, occasionally looking at the other two carelessly to interrupt them, or perhaps he was the boss. As strange as this taco stand looked to me, perhaps the stayed opened all night long and continue opened this morning to relieve the hangover of the nigh party goers. Whatever the case, it was an interesting subject and it is now on my sketchbook.

Mom's closet

A4 Fabriano, pen, ink, Cotman watercolors and brush pen.

While mom was still sleeping, I noticed  her closet was open and took a look at it. I've been sketching some things about mom lately. I spend a lot of time with her following her schedule. I feel for those followers who are probably expecting something different to adult care stuff, if you don't care please keep reading. Fortunately that morning she wanted to stay in bed longer, so I sat down in the sofa in her bedroom and from there I sketched her closet. Her sweaters are the first thing one can grab. Contrary to many's belief the weather of this city can be very cold. All of them are sport sweaters for daily use at home, something one can wash pretty often because sweaters get dirty during meal times, sometimes they look like there was a battle of food. The lower part of the closet became a storage space for disposable hygiene products, a box of diapers, which I have to say that Tena are the best, they hold EVERYTHING, bags of bed protectors, a box of baby wipes, a box with rolls of garbage bags. I hope none environmentalist is reading this.  To all caregivers...I salute you.

Tangamanga I Park. A paradise in the city.

A5 Hand.Book, pen, ink, watercolor and waterbrush.
One of the most visited parks in San Luis Potosi city is Park Tangamanga I. The artificial lake is not always filled with water. It doesn't rain here often. Last year, however, it rained for weeks. So much, that the lake came to life again. Although the lake is drying, there's still much water to make the lake look like that, a lake. Hundreds of birds of species I've never seen before (you'll see I'm a not a bird watcher so all are unknown to me) were bathing in the shallow waters. My family and I went there for a breakfast picnic. This morning was perfect, sunny with a light breeze, and the temperature like autumn was very inviting. After breakfast we laid down on the grass, we left the breeze to caress our skin. The constant quack of  ducks sound like a song. A beautiful morning, a great escape from routine right in the city.
