Car wash

Pen&ink and watercolor on HP Watercolor paper 10” x 7”
The car wash looks old. One of the driveways is closed, perhaps few customers due to the pandemic or because simply it’s not working. Or perhaps because it has been raining and it will rain and it’s a waist of money? One of the signs shows “touch free“, does it mean the cars can get infected too? A little joke. No car went through the driveway during my time sketching in my car. However it’s an interesting subject to sketch, full of imperfections, the road, the signs, the walls, and the sketch itself! Ha!

DuPage River

Pencil, color pencil and watercolor on Stillman&Birn Alpha Series Sketcbook 8" x 10"
The level of water in Dupage River was higher than normal, it's been raining moderately but even so, it makes a difference. On a defiance to the stay at home orders, sick of been at home, we dared to go to the river here in Shorewood.  There are a couple of picnic benches where we had a sandwich for supper on a break from the rain. It was sunny, finally. For some minutes we were alone, then some kids on bicycles arrived to the other table far from us, played briefly barefoot in the overflowed grass and left soon. A kayaker passed by, she wasn't afraid of the strong current, she looked quite comfortable. I also found a chick on the grass which I mistakenly thought at first it was a mushroom.  It was bleeding from the head, I could not possible help the poor thing. This was the busiest day we have ever had in 60 days in lockdown. I least everything is pleasantly green and the temperature has been better.
I did the work line on location and the rest at home, I chose to color pencil which takes me more time, but after all, time is what I have.

Mother’s Day.

Pencil and watercolor on Handbook watercolor journal 8 in x 8 in

This drawing is from my mom. We were fooling around with sunglasses and taking silly photos. That moment became a sweet memory. Look at her saying hi from heaven! 😊

For all of you who are fortune to be mothers or have mothers,  Happy Mother’s Day! And for those like me, I wish that the sweetest memories of your mom brings you the warmest of joys.
